The fishing season begins May 1 and ends October 20 and charters are available anytime in
between. May signals the start of some excellent spring King salmon action. These early season
Chinooks are lean and mean, after the long winter, and provide the ultimate in tackle-busting action
and fine eating. In addition to the shallow-water Kings, Brown Trout and silvery Steelhead are
bonus catches. Lake Trout become legal targets after May 1st and help make May one of the best
months for smorgasbord catches. May fishing is sometimes really cold but the resulting catch will be
well worth it. June is the month the lake starts to warm and thermoclines form. Lake Trout,
Chinook, and some Steelhead make up the catch for June. July is when the BIG King Salmon start
to show up along with all the other species. In July you will have a smorgasbord catch of all different
species and sizes. August is prime time for BIG Kings, after a long summer of constant gorging on
bait fish these husky brawlers are at their peak in terms of weight and fighting ability. This is the best
time to catch a trophy for the wall. September is the time for the BIG Kings in the harbor. You will
fish in the river, or just outside the piers and catch mature Kings that are ready to run the river and
spawn. This also is the best time for a trophy. October fishing is an offshore fishery for younger
immature Salmon and Steelhead. You may fish 5-15 miles out trying to find concentrated schools of fish.
